Dr. Lenore Bacek received her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, followed by a one-year internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Louisiana State University. She completed both a residency in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care and a master’s degree at Auburn University in 2011. Dr. Bacek is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. Dr. Bacek is currently the head of the AUCVM Emergency and Critical Care section and has mentored numerous residents and interns on the clinic floor and in the research lab. Under her direction, Auburn University received certification as a Veterinary Trauma Center by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2016. Dr. Bacek has been an invited speaker at numerous national/international and regional conferences, including the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Forum, the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Symposium (IVECCS), the South Carolina Association for Veterinarians (SCAV) conference, and numerous local continuing education events. Dr. Bacek is a member of the Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine (AVHTM) and actively engaged in a number of intramural and multicenter clinical research projects. Her research has been supported by extramural grants from the ACVECC Foundation. She contributes to teaching third and fourth year veterinary students on the topics of triage, common small animal emergencies, transfusion medicine, fluid therapy, and clinical toxicology.

Dr. Linda Martin graduated from Colorado State University in 1990. She currently is an Assistant Professor and head of the Critical Care Unit at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Kendon Kuo

Dr. Kendon Kuo received his DVM from the University of California, Davis in 2010, followed by a one-year internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Auburn University. Dr. Kuo finished both a residency in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care and a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences at Auburn University in 2014. Dr. Kuo is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Auburn University. Dr. Kuo has spoken at numerous regional and national/international conferences, including the International Emergency and Critical Care Symposium (IVECCS) and American Veterinary Medical Association Convention (AVMA) In his free time, he enjoys music, movies, eating, and anything involving the outdoors.
Stephanie Pitzer

Stephanie graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Denver, Colorado in 1998. She received her specialty certification in Emergency/Critical Care in 2002. Stephanie enjoys coagulation medicine, mechanical ventilation and transfusion medicine. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys vacationing in the Caribbean and spending time with her dog L.E.
Sharon Price

Sharon is originally from Anniston, Alabama. She has been with the Auburn Critical Care unit since 2006. Sharon enjoys mechanical ventilation and continuous renal replacement therapy. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs.
Paula Hart

Paula is originally from Palmetto, Florida. She has been with the Auburn Critical Care unit for 5 years. Paula has a special interest in sepsis, snake bites and neurologic emergencies. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and shopping.
Amy Mcgouryk

Amy is originally from Douglas, Georgia. She received her veterinary technician degree from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky in 2003. She originally started emergency/critical care training at University of Georgia and moved to Auburn in 2008. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her Dachshund, Heidi. Amy has a special interest in cardiology, nutrition, ventilator management and coagulopathies.
